Most states: the 20th

The most common sales tax due date is the 20th of the month after each reporting period — but states range from the 15th (Maine) to the last day of the month (California, and others).

Weekends & holidays

If a due date lands on a weekend or holiday, it moves to the next business day in every state. Florida is the exception for electronic payments, which must be initiated the business day before the 20th.

Five states have no sales tax

Delaware, Montana, New Hampshire, and Oregon have no general sales tax. Alaska has no statewide tax but local jurisdictions may levy their own.
